Section Chief, Medical Information Systems
Jordan R. Asher hales from Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his undergraduate work at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then went on to do his medical school training at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee and stayed there to do his internship and residency in Internal Medicine, finishing in 1993.
Dr. Asher obtained his Board Certification in Internal Medicine and went on to become board certified as a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension from the American Society of Hypertension. He also has received a Masters of Science in Medical Management from the Alliance of Medical Management Education, University of Texas at Dallas School of Business and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
He presently serves as Medical Director of Saint Thomas Medical Group and is the Associate Medical Director of the Vascular Institute at Saint Thomas Hospital. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University and is very active in their teaching program.
Dr. Asher is a nationally known speaker in the areas of hypertension, lipid disorders and cardiovascular disease prevention. He also serves on numerous National Advisory Boards and does a great deal of clinical research in the area of hypertension and is well published in both the fields of hypertension and medical management. His areas of interest include hypertension, lipid disorders, diabetes mellitus and the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. He, along with Dr. Houston and Dr. Naftilan, founded the Hypertension Institute. Dr. Asher is also very involved in the local community and serves on many different boards and committees.
